The Exclamation Point

 

The exclamation point
I have often used
there’s even times
it I have abused.

Whenever I want
my point to drive
home to another
I use it to arrive

At an understanding
between them and me
I use the exclamation
for them to see

I’ll stand behind
the point that I make
and no argument
from them will I take!

Short Story Slam Week 9 – 2nd entry

What?!

What?!  I can’t play?

What did you say?

This is fair?  No way!

What did I do today?

 

Why did you punish me?

No way should I be!

But I don’t even agree!

This ain’t fair, you see?!

 

It’s because I didn’t do

what you told me to?

It’s not fair of you!

Now I’m sad and blue!!

 

Guess I’m just gonna go

to my room and throw

a fit just so you know

’cause you won’t let me go!!

Short Story Slam Week 9

I Know You’re There

Lord, I know You’re there

‘Cause I see You everywhere

And I believe You care

So this question I dare

Have You blessings to spare?

Though life may be unfair

I will not ever despair

My soul to You I bare

Need in Your grace to share

I’m trapped in their lair

The evil ones at me glare

What we should beware

Did my feet ensnare

Lord, I know You’re there

You count my every hair

Because for me You care

Your grace upon me spare

This is to You my prayer

For Your glory do I declare!

Pirates

We are pirates three
going on a journey

It’s our one endeavor
searching for buried treasure

Through swamp and glade
our trek we have made

Nothing have we won
since we first begun

Now I question why
we continue to try

Yet searching they insist
for what doesn’t exist

And this I know
wherever we may go

The only real treasure
is One without measure

Maybe they will learn
around the next turn.
