Stepping Through The Mirror

Stepping through the mirror
what a shock to see
when a whole other world
was there before me

The people were real
and so finely gowned
almost screamed with glee
at what I had found

 They failed to notice
as they all talked
in the same direction
seemed everybody walked

I began to back up
not to draw attention
hand toward my face
I held in suspension

A most elegant glove
was donning my hand
as my foot caught
on my hem’s band

I thought what’s this
as I looked down
I saw my attire
a gorgeous ball gown

I felt like Cinderella
and followed the crowd
to an elegant hall
where music played loud

As I entered in
they announced my name
when the royal prince
then did graciously exclaim

Now you have arrived
the wedding may begin
and I figured that
 heaven I was in

That’s when I awoke
‘twas a dream I’d seen
but what an adventure
it had truly been

To Awake In Darkness

Oh God, I’m so afraid

‘Cause whatever did I do

To awake in this darkness?

Just don’t have a clue

In my nakedness I hide

From the demons out there

Who prowl around for me

When they’re looking everywhere

Why am I in hell?

Dear God, please tell me

Get me out of here

Before it’s me they see!

But God is not listening

His face He has turned

When our sin’s not confessed

Our advances are then spurned

When He is not put first

Or even a second thought

And ask something of Him

What makes us think He ought?

If through life we go

And the Lord we ignore

When hell we’re condemned to

Why would we expect more?

A Thousand Tears

I have cried a thousand tears
Seems I’ve lived a thousand years

I have survived a thousand fears
That ended in a thousand tears

As the end of life nears
and I remember my lost peers

All my thoughts keep switching gears
as a thousand my mind clears

The Lord my God eternity steers
as the end of life nears

I know a thousand more tears
I will shed my last years

But my death holds no fears
for heaven’s promise my soul endears!

This Day’s Thought From Wednesday and Thursday

This Day's Thought

Prayer Requests

Be the eye of God dwelling with you
The foot of Christ in guidance with you
The shower of the Spirit pouring on you
Richly and generously.

Alexander Carmichael

This Day's Verse

Do not let your heart envy sinners, but always be zealous for the fear of the LORD.  There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.

Proverbs 23:17-18
The New International Version

This Day's Smile

It’s tremendous to be learning that no matter how big you see things or how simple you keep them you’ll never reach the ultimate.  No man has ever seen things as big as they could have been or kept them as simple as they might be.  Sometimes we do well in one area at the expense of the other- like the little boy on the corner with his flop-eared pup.  A Salesman passed the corner each day, and after a week he began to pity the boy who was striving to sell his puppy.  The salesman knew the boy didn’t See It Big.  He stopped and said, “Son, do you really want to sell this dog?”  The boy replied, “I certainly do.”  “Well you’re never going to sell him until you learn to See It Big.  What I mean is, take this dog home, clean him up, doll him up, raise your price, and people think they’re getting something big, and you’ll sell him.”  That noon the salesman came by and there was the boy with a puppy that was groomed, perfumed, and beribboned alongside a big sign:  TREEMENNDOUS Puppy For Sale- $5,000.  The salesman gulped and realized he had forgotten to tell the boy about Keeping It Simple.  That evening he stopped by to tell the boy the other half of the formula, only to discover that the boy was gone, the puppy was gone and the sign lay there with “SOLD” written across it in big letters.  The salesman couldn’t believe it.  This kid couldn’t have sold the dog for $5,000.  His curiosity got the best of him and he rang the boy’s doorbell.  The boy came to the door and the salesman blurted, “Son you didn’t really sell that dog for $5,000 now, did you?”  The boy replied, “Yes, sir, I did and I want to thank you for all your help.”  The salesman said, “How in the world did you do it?”  The boy replied, “Oh, it was easy.  I just took two $2,500 cats in exchange!”

Kindness is just the word for [certain] small acts.  Kindness is love flowing out in little gentlenesses.  We ought to carry our lives so that they will be perpetual benedictions wherever we go.  All we need for such a ministry is a heart full of love for Christ; for if we truly love Christ we shall also love our fellow men, and love will always find ways of helping.  A heart filled with gentleness cannot be miserly of its benedictions.

James R. Miller

This Day's Verse

The LORD is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.

Psalm 145:8
The English Standard Version

Where I Can Be

In my storybook dreams
where I can be

Anything that I want
imagination is set free

Maid Marianne in Nottingham
when meeting Robin Hood

And fighting off the Sheriff
on the side of good

Or maybe even Cinderella
with her wicked step-sisters

Who trades in her rags
for some glass slippers

I could also be
as Joan of Arc too

In my fantasy world
nothing I can’t do

I love to read
and let myself go

Where my life’s different
and problems can’t follow

Somewhere down the line
the storybook still ends

And the time is
over that it suspends

When your real life
floods back in again

But you hold on
to next time when

You can once more
into your book escape

And create the world
in your own shape!

The Nightmare

‘Twas in the middle of night
when dream turned to nightmare
and the scene once bright
now had none to spare

I was instantly so afraid
felt the need to run
but once the decision made
it couldn’t then be done

My feet felt like lead
when them I couldn’t lift
my legs numb and dead
through the nightmare I drift

I was being pulled in
to a most evil place
and felt the wickedness within
 my heart began to race

As before her I stood
the queen of damned’s throne
and it was then understood
’twas me and me alone

Upon whom she’d taken aim
as she cackled with glee
my soul to only claim
as her prize for eternity

I shook with no control
her evilness was so thick
as over me it roll
felt that I’d be sick

As she began to speak
my skin began to crawl
and knees went so weak
I was sure I’d fall

“Join us in our sin
there is pleasure and reward
if you do you’ll win
all the world can afford?”

Give me strength, I prayed
right at that very moment
His hand upon me laid
and the nightmare had went

Over and over and again
I whispered, it wasn’t real
but the fear still remain
that my soul she’d steal

When I heard a voice say
“To worry there’s no need
just don’t lose your way
through her sin and greed.”

When I was fully awake
I got on my knees
Lord, protect me for Your sake
from her evil world’s disease!”
