Displays – This Week’s Picture it & Write

My mother jumped up on the table and started wiggling her hips. The crowd was throwing their arms up in the air, cheering her on. I couldn’t watch. I hid behind my fingers but I could hear my name. She was shouting for me to join her. This was the most embarrassing New Years party I had ever attended. I moved towards my mother and tried to coax her to come down. She didn’t. She stayed up there, she shook her skirt and called out to the crowd. I could see my mother’s body jiggling like jelly. Skin folded and rippled. I cringed. A couple of others joined her on the table with drinks in their hands. I left with my cheeks feathered rouge from the heat of embarrassment.

How many of
these outrageous displays

Will mother in
her alcoholic malaise

Lead me down
paths of disgrace

With her “celebrations”
of New Year days?

How much longer
can I go

Through all this
I don’t know

Why must her
insecurity always show

When it only
seems to grow?

It fills me
with such rage

When she does
these acts stage

Why can’t she
act her age?

She never will
is what I wage

Long as my
memories have begun

This is what
she has done

And my disrespect
is all she’s won

The mother’s sins
upon her son!

For Your New Year

This is my prayer
for your new year

May all of you
live with no fear

When the angels are
ever to you near

As a child of God
to them so dear

May the Good Lord
make your path clear

That you will know
He’s with you here

For to Him are
you more than mere

And he does see
each and every tear

Know when you pray
that He does hear

Go live your life
as one without fear!

Have a happy, blessed and safe New Year everybody,
with love, Terri

Plz – Saturday’s Other Limerick

it really does crack you up
’cause I dropped to my knees!!

Swing – Saturday’s Limerick

Just a little mouse, as I swing
I’m thinking of not a thing
while back and forth I do sway
no words of wisdom I can say
what more were you expecting?

Where Do We Go?

Where do we go
when our illusions die?

Who wipes the tears
away that we cry?

Who will hold us
when we sigh?

 Where do we go
when escape we try?

How do we grow
the wings to fly?

 Who will keep us
all safe and dry?

Will they know
when we lie?

Who will the truth
then from us pry?

How do we know
on whom to rely?

What do we know
of angels on high?

How can we tell
that they draw nigh?

If there are times
from God we do shy

Do you ever suppose
 it makes them cry?

 What does life mean
can you tell me why

We live for a moment
and then we die?

For my anonymous friend,
the questions have answers
I promise you!

Chicken Dinner

In view of the economy
it is so refreshing to me

Just at some point to see
the things in this world for free

A sense of humor seems to be
alive and well in this country

And we can laugh ’cause it’s funny
even though it has to do with money

When in the land of milk and honey
things have not been alway sunny

So allow me now to say
that somewhere down along the way

I hope that you find here one day
something to laugh your stress away

For outside the door it just may
be a world in shades of gray

Inside my home does always stay
a rainbow of colors to brighten the day!!
