This Day’s Thought From Mon. Tues. and Wed.

This Day's Thought

Prayer Requests

Christmas is the harvest time of love.  Souls are drawn to other souls.  All that we have read and thought and hoped comes to fruition at this happy time.  Our spirits are astir.  We feel within us a strong desire to serve.  A strange, subtle force, a new kindness, animates man and child.  A new spirit is growing in us.  No longer are we content to relieve pain, to sweeten sorrow, to give the crust of charity.  We dare to give friendship, service, the equal loaf of bread and love.

Helen Keller

This Day's Verse

“I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

Genesis 12:3
The New King James Version

This Day's Smile

Christmas is when God came down the stairs of heaven with a baby in His arms.

This Day's Thought

Prayer Requests

There was a gift for each of us left under the tree of life 2000 years ago by Him whose birthday we celebrate today.  The gift was withheld from no man.  Some have left the packages unclaimed.  Some have accepted the gift and carried it around, but have failed to remove the wrappings and look inside to discover the hidden splendor.  The packages are all alike:  In each is a scroll on which is written, “All that the Father hath is thine.”  Take and live!

This Day's Verse

The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, until he comes to whom it belongs and the obedience of the nations is his.

Genesis 49:10
The New International Version

This Day's Thought

Prayer Requests

Then let every heart keep Christmas within:
Christ’s pity for sorrow,
Christ’s hatred for sin,
Christ’s care for the weakest,
Christ’s courage for right.
Everywhere, everywhere,
Christmas tonight!

Phillips Brooks

This Day's Verse

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders.  And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.  Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end.  He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever.  The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this.

Isaiah 9:6-7
The New International Version

This Day's Smile

An attorney I very much admired once said that the greatest gift he ever received in his life was a note his dad gave him on Christmas.  It read, “Son, this year I will give you 365 hours.  An hour every day after dinner.  We’ll talk about whatever you want to talk about.  We’ll go wherever you want to go, play whatever you want to play.  It will be your hour.”  That dad kept his promise and renewed it every year.

No Monsters Here

When the “princess” Penny
banned monsters from living

In her fantasy kingdom
her rule was unforgiving

And she would often
go out on patrol

From the highest hill
and checking in every hole

Penny showed no tolerance
for a monster anywhere

Nor would show kindness
when finding any there

So when she happened
to come upon Benny

With a scowling face
did the “princess” Penny

Take a tight grip
there upon his tail

And the poor monster
let out a loud wail

“Right this very minute
I’m ordering you out!”

Did the mean ol’ Penny
at the shaken Benny shout!

For he hadn’t succeeded
very well to hide

As he wiped the tears
and his face dried

“Please your highest highness
if you allow me

I’ll be best protection
your kingdom could ever see!!”

Which gave the “princess”
another train of thought

And after a just minute
decided that she ought

So an agreement ’twas
made between the two

That Benny got to stay
for his whole life through!

A lesson in tolerance and cooperation

All Cruelty

We have all been victims of cruelty
in our life at least one time.
The pain that we have suffered
is no less than a crime.

It doesn’t matter, adult or child,
when cruelty is all the same.

May it be a false accusation
or some one called you a name.

Matters not if it’s a physical
or it’s an emotional blow,

Either one will leave a scar
that the heart does always know.

The only difference that I see
is how long we endure the pain.

With a child it’s so much worse
in the time they do remain.

People find different ways to cope
when the blows continue to come.

It can at times get easier
but others will just grow numb.

 How they feel about themselves
is not too hard to guess,

Take one look at their face
and you will see the distress.

Telling all you need to know
to see their pain and fears.

The lines etched in their face
just grow deeper over the years.

See how many time they frowned?
See all the tears they’ve cried?
See all the hurt and anger
that they have buried deep inside?

But there’s freedom in the Lord
where relief from pain is found.
When inviting Him into your heart,
He’ll keep you safe and sound.

All the hurt, all the pain,
all the scars will He mend.

If you give Him the chance,
your brokenness will find an end.

As He enters into your heart
and fills you with His love,

it takes your eyes off of the world
and turns them to God above!

A New Christmas E-Mail From My Brother – That Just Ain’t Right, LOL!

Ah, Christmas shopping in the good old days.

I can’t help it, I’m Irish.
That’s the only excuse I can think of.

Here’s another I thought you might enjoy . . . (an oldie, I know!)
=============================

A TOUCHING CHRISTMAS STORY

A couple was Christmas shopping at the mall on Christmas Eve and the mall
was packed.

Walking through the mall the surprised wife look up and noticed her husband
was nowhere around and she was very upset because they had a lot to do.

She used her cell phone to call her husband because she was so upset, to ask
him where he was.

The husband in a calm voice said, “honey, remember the jewelry store we went
into 5 years ago where you fell in love with that diamond necklace that we
could not afford and I told you that I would get it for you one day.”

His wife said crying, “yes I remember that jewelry store.”

He said, “well, I’m in the bar next to it.”
