Not Wanting To Go
On eve of Christmas day
did fairies come to play
With the decorations on display
there in candle’s light array
When on this enchanted night
crept out to take flight
In a Christmas wonderland delight
gazing at their joyous sight
When time came to go
before day’s light could grow
The little fairy Susie-s0-so
told her mother “Oh no, no!
There is just no way
that I’m going back today
Here’s where I wanna stay
to see faces merry & gay!”
Mother fairy was most adamant
and looked at her askant
While saying, “No you can’t,
this wish I’ll not grant.”
As Susie stomped her feet
refusing mother’s eyes to meet
In defiance took a seat
with a scowling face replete
For this was no excuse
but saying “It’s no use.
To go I now refuse
see how I have the blues!”
This time of Christmas bliss
mother having none of this
With her hand didn’t miss
giving Susie’s backside a kiss
As she began to cry
mother just wanted to die
Asking Susie, “Why, oh why,
did you choose to defy?”
“I only wanted to see
the children oh so happy
When they come running to be
gathered around their Christmas tree!
And share the magic moment
when opening up their present
To hear all their excitement
would give me such enjoyment!”
This made mother so sad
that she had gotten mad
And that she ever had
spanked Susie for being bad
“Okay then we will hide
to observe the yule tide
As presents they all divide
to see what is inside
But then we must flee
before they ever see
Either of you or me
then will you be happy?”
Susie jumped with such joy
that nothing could ever destroy
To see the girl and boy
receive their Christmas toy
“Oh mamma, mamma thank you
and I do promise to
Go back when they’re through
thank you, thank you, thank you!!”
