Hell -This Week’s Picture It & Write

The wolf stared at her. She stared at him. She wanted to look away, she didn’t want to entice him, but she couldn’t. The cookies weighed her down like an anchor. Her heart threatened to burst. The wolf took a step forward. The basket of cookies fell from her limp fingers, the cookies scattered across the grass. Without hesitation she began running in the opposite direction. The deep, dark forest was only meters away, maybe she could lose him among the trees. The branches tore at her skin and whipped her face. Shreds of her red dress dripped from the tree’s branches. She glanced behind her. The wolf was out of sight. She had strayed from the path. Her mother’s cookies for her grandmother had been spoiled. The weight of guilt flooded her eyes with tears. She had to find her way back home. Just as she turned around she came face to face with the wolf: a man.

- Ermisenda Alvarez

Her heart was pounding faster
than e’er it had before

The sound rang in her ears
’til she could stand no more

The wolf turned to man
as she could clearly see

Was something to be feared
as some demonic  entity

He was without a doubt
a creature of the night

As the man then howled
with an obvious delight

While there came a sound
from out of the shadows

Where she saw the falling
of a deep red rose

That had been released from
this frightening woman’s hand

As it was fluttering down
upon the leaves to land

While all around her shoulders
the bats came to rest

One of God’s creatures that
she did most surely detest

At which point she knew
that she faced a vampiress

As her heart was thudding
for deep was her distress

When it was she thought
no more she could take

An angel of the darkness
 did through the forest break

“Oh no, no, no, no
my dear God oh why

Have I been abandoned here
 in the woods to die?!

I’ve been a good girl
I don’t lie or steal

Nothing that I’ve done
could be a big deal!”

And with all of that
she let out a scream

When just then she awoke
from this nightmare of a dream

As through the heavy tears
that from her eyes fell

She began to thank God
she was not in hell!

The Fairy And The Moon

The fairy and the moon
had a chat one night

Sitting among the clouds
there in the star’s light

About life on the earth
along with this and that

While floating on downy comfort
as they chewed the fat

Discussing how it was
that  silly human beings

Each thought they deserved
the finest of all things

And just at the idea
the both of them laughed

Then moon to fairy said,
“They must all be daft!”

To which the fairy replied,
“I really think it’s sad

“For what they were given
they should be more glad!”

Which then caused the moon
to pause for a just minute

When most suddenly he said,
“I don’t think they get it!”

“You know,” the fairy said
you just may be right!

“But do they not hear
those angels singing tonight?

“Maybe I should go and
make sure that they do!”

As away the little fairy
into the sky then flew

To join the choir of angels
 so she could joyously sing

And tell all of the world
“Give glory to your King!”

A Gnome Alone

‘Twas far from home
that the little gnome
found himself all alone
in the forest to roam

*
“Oh dear, oh dear,”
he thought in fear
when it became clear
no one was near

*

Then began the snow
to grow and grow
before long he didn’t know
which way he should go

*

When Birdies in a tree
the shivering gnome did see
with each other did agree
up there he should be

*

Down one of them flew
while saying “Hey there you
your face is turning blue
and your hair’s frozen too!”

*

“Up with us do climb.”
to him a thought divine
their warmth he found sublime
and fell asleep in no time!

Stranger; 30 Day Letter Writing Challenge – Letter 6

Time now for the stranger
the one unknown to me

In the eyes of God
brother or sister you be

And even though you are
living your own reality

 Know that it’s the heart
 of us God does see

*

The heavenly Father above
knows both great and small

And His loving grace does
upon each of us fall

When God forgives our sins
He wipes from memory all

So when you’ve accepted Him
just remember to stand tall!

Where Did I Go? – Part Three

*

“Hurry up, let’s get inside!  By now Jason knows that I didn’t go to work.  Where’s Dad?”

“He isn’t awake yet.  He had a hard time sleeping last night and was up and down at least a half-dozen times I think.”

Susan couldn’t seem to quit shaking, or crying, nor could she say “I’m so sorry!” enough times.

“What are you going to do now?” her mother asked.

“I was going to go to the Battered Women’s Shelter, I think.  That’s probably the safest place for me right now.  Besides that, they will probably help me get counseling so that I can strengthen my resolve to never go back there.” she answered.  ”I don’t know what the procedure is to get placed in there though.  I thought I would come here and we could look up the number and call.”

At that point Susan’s mother arose from the kitchen table where they were sitting and grabbed the phone book.  As she did Susan thought, “Lord, help me!  I can’t do this without You!!”  Her mother turned around and handed her the book.

“Do you have any clothes to change into?” she asked.

“No.  I couldn’t take anything with me or he would have been suspicious.  All I have is the uniform on my back.”

“Well, at least the people at work won’t know that you are wearing the same clothes every day!” her mother exclaimed trying to lighten the tension.  ”I’ll go get you something else to wear.  Will you need shoes too?”

“Yes, please.  Some tennis shoes would be fine, mom.  Thanks.”

With that, Susan started looking for the phone number to the shelter.  Once she located it, Susan picked up the phone with a trembling hand and dialed it.  The lady who answered was very pleasant-sounding and explained to her that she would need to make a police report and then have the officer bring her to the shelter.  That was the only way that she could get in.

After Susan hung up the phone, her mother walked back into the room and asked, “What did they say?”

As she proceeded to explain their procedures to her mother as Susan’s trembling went into high gear.  She was shaking so badly that she could barely take a sip of the coffee that her mother had fixed for her when she had first arrived.

“Are you alright?”, she asked.

“This is going to make him a whole lot angrier than just me leaving when I report him to the police.  What if he goes off the deep end and really kills me for it?  What will happen to the kids?”, Susan asked her mother as she burst out crying once more.

“Don’t worry about that right now.  You have to do it, Susan.  If anything happens to you and they don’t catch him for it, I promise that we’ll hire an attorney and fight for custody of your children.  Have some faith in God!  You have to believe that He will protect you.  But right now you have to call the police.”

“Okay,” Susan replied, “hand me the phone again.”  With that she dialed 911 and waited for the dispatcher to answer as her knee rapidly bounced up and down…

Looking At Me – Saturday’s Limerick

Why is he looking at me?
Can’t he leave me be?
Why did that scary thing
into the house you bring?
Now my paranoia’s running free!
