And Hell Erupted On Earth – This Week’s Picture it & Write

Tourists crowded the space like a herd of cattle. I set up my easel and exposed my paints to the scene before me. Together we would create a masterpiece landscape. I raised the quivering tip of my paintbrush to the blank canvas but a tremor threw me out of my chair. My easel fell to the ground like a wounded animal, bleeding paint. Another tremor disturbed the ground. I suddenly registered that people were screaming. The rush of footsteps created a sinister murmur. This couldn’t be happening, I thought, the volcano is dormant. I was frozen to the spot. People bustled me to the side. Those who didn’t get up were trampled. The screaming halted for a moment. A deafening roar exploded from the picturesque landscape.

- Ermisenda Alvarez

And hell erupted on earth
rising up from the core

Spewing it’s vilest poison
lapping tongue of a whore

Forked in demonic nature
ragged horns jutted forth

Ashes up from the pit
foul winds blowing them north

The screams all around me
were nothing to even compare

To the anguish I heard
crying for me to beware

As the multi-headed dragon
from within the lava arose

While there came a great wailing
as a mother in birth-pain throws

Beside it were a thousand demons
whose putrid stench filled the air

 Vomited out of the pit
with Armageddon to declare

Then I woke up gagging
nostrils holding the smell

From that most frightening scene
of the world’s coming hell

“Dear God, dear God, dear God,”
I then began to pray

“Leave me not behind
to face that Judgement Day!

But rather my dear God
this I beg of Thee

If You would only allow
that ‘chosen’ I would be!”

Someone You Don’t Talk to as Much as You’d Like to – 30 Day Letter Writing Challenge; Letter 10

I have but one

solitary son

Unlike my daughters two

don’t talk enough to

*

Neither I must say

do either of they

Much from him hear

but why remains unclear

*

I know he doesn’t mean

that it should be seen

As a purposeful slight

we’ve not had a fight

*

Rather he is busy

and it makes me dizzy

Just to try keeping track

when interests he doesn’t lack

*

And does have his own

son who is his clone

In a pod two peas

of their varying degrees

*

While always on the go

it doesn’t seem to show

That it occurs to him

he only calls on whim

*

Or he’s in need of something

where mom can be a blessing

And more times than not

my voice-mail is forgot

*

 Yet, not done with disrespect

as now you might suspect

But rather just the way

of his youth today

*

And the time will come

as sooner does for some

This error he will correct

when seeing his neglect

*

More at-tentative he will be

in keeping in touch with me

And so I do refrain

from about it to complain

*

Where Did I Go? – Part Eight

*

After Susan got inside the shelter and met with an intake counselor, she was shown to her room.  They weren’t all full, so she had a room to herself.  Not sure if that was good or bad though because she spent the majority of the first couple days alone, crying and verging on depression.

The worst part of it all was not having her children there with her.  On the second day there, she called the police and asked if they would escort her to go retrieve her children.  When she heard the answer to her request, she burst out into uncontrollable tears.

The current state law, as explained to her, was that the parent who was in possession of the children was the custodial parent until a judge ruled on it.  Therefore, the police said that they could not go with her to enforce removal of the children from their father without a court order.

Susan walked around in a fog for the next 24 hours and then she got angry.  She spoke to the legal liaison for the shelter about the situation.  After a lengthy conversation on the matter, the woman informed her that, since it was a common law marriage, which weren’t legally recognized in their state, and Jason had never established paternity for the children, he had no rights to them.  Susan was the sole custodial parent in the courts eyes and if he refused to give them to her, he could technically be charged with kidnapping.

Susan was ecstatic!  She immediately called the police station and asked to speak with one of the officers that she’d previously spoken with.  After explaining the circumstances and legalities to him, he told her that he needed to speak with his Commander and would call her right back.

So she waited by the phone in the office of the shelter.  Fifteen minutes turned into twenty, and then thirty.  Her stomach was churning.  ”What could be taking him so long?”, she asked herself.

The counselor on duty at the time did her best to keep her calm.  After forty minutes had passed, she told Susan, “A police cruiser just pulled up outside.  That must be him to get you, they didn’t radio in a drop off.”

Susan quickly walked to the entrance door and waited for her to buzz the locks.  Once she heard the click and was given the okay, she opened the door and got the biggest shock and surprise of her life.

The police officer was holding her youngest child in his arms with the other two in tow.  ”You went and got them for me?!” she exclaimed through her tears.  The children were all screaming at once, “Mommy, mommy!!  We rode in the police car!”  They were instantly kissing and hugging, amid the tears.

Susan stood back up and looked at the officer saying, “I can’t tell you how grateful I am for you doing this.  You are an angel!  Thank you so very much!”

He expressed his concerns over taking her there to get them and what it might instigate.  Therefore, he had decided that it might go over better if he went by himself.  He stated that Jason was quite irritated but didn’t give him too much problem after that.

The kids had been fed and bathed already.  So there was nothing left to do in preparation for bedtime.  That left them with plenty time for hugs, kisses and snuggling…

The Pirates Fail

In a large ship
off the pirates sail

But little they did know
how badly they would fail

For when the high winds
all of a sudden died

Warnings from the crow’s nest
out to them were cried

A monstrous octopus had
been spotted down below

And the closer he got
the bigger he did grow

As he then reached out
his tentacles in the air

The life boat was cast
with no time to spare

After he had taken
their pirate ship down

He kept on grabbing
for anything left aroun’

 And he got the parrot
as a pirate fought him off

Now at my little tale
have no mind to scoff

But rather heed the warning
of the perils at sea

 Or in the octopus’ garden
buried there you’ll be!

Chillin’ – Saturday’s Limerick

I’m chillin’ in the snow
just going with the flow
and watching my tail
across the snow sail
as the wind does blow!

I Am – Revisited

When you are hurting,

I AM.

When you are lonely,

I AM.

When you are afraid,

                                                 I AM.

When you are depressed,

I AM.

When you are confused,

I AM.

When you are angry,

I AM.

When you are rebelling,

I AM.

When you are lost,

I AM.

When you are sick,

I AM.

When you are heartbroken,

I AM.

When you are searching,

I AM.

When you are asking,

I AM.

Wherever you are,

I AM
