Forbidden Love – This Week’s Picture It & Write

The weather was humid, heavy and thick like a tongue. The razor grazed his skin, shedding the prickly beard he had recently been wearing. His head was cradled between her soft, tender hands and her abdomen. He breathed in the moment, hoping he would never have to exhale it. Despite all the boundaries they were breaking, he felt at peace. He peered up as she caressed his forehead, he noticed her dress falling from her bare, white shoulder. She was beautiful. At any moment she could slice his throat effortlessly, no one would care nor notice his disappearance. She wiped the last of the pearl-white foam from his cheeks and neck, revealing delicious, dark chocolate skin. They stood there, her hair tousled by the warm wind, staring at each other. A gust of warm wind nudged her into his hands.

- Ermisenda Alvarez

Though skin was dark
soft hair she found
as she cut it
falling to the ground

Felt herself drowning
in his gentle gaze
the world was spinning
in sun’s golden haze

But love was forbidden
between them she knew
as with his grooming
seemed her hands flew

Her blood was rising
as heart beat faster
to give in now
would be a disaster

Her mind cried out
a warning to heed
“You can never be
with a half-breed!

“You’ll be shunned by
 all family and friends
when they do care
and no one pretends!”

Just then as if
the wind knew alone
into his waiting hands
she need be thrown

And no longer resisting
his lips to kiss
’twas like coming back
to the home you miss

“The heck with caution!”
to herself she said
when by her heart
she was being led

Bite – Saturday’s Limerick

Oh come on baby
lay one on me
just a little kiss
don’t you what you’ll miss
except a bite maybe!

Ghostly Song Pi-Ku

Her ghostly
song
echoes through trees
haunts
the marrow of  bones
floating along the summer night’s breeze
heard by
the gentle soul chilling
causing them to freeze
a moment

I picked this up from Becca Givens;

“On Dragonfly Wings with Buttercup Tea”

*    This is my first attempt to write in Pi-Ku form.  I chose the long version.

According to Some Novel Ideas Blog (classroom curriculum) on activities to celebrate National Pi Day 3-14 … “So, what is Piku?, it’s a poem of sorts, like a haiku.  But instead of the 5-7-5 format of haiku, Piku uses pi as its base.  The number of syllables in each line of the poem corresponds to the numbers in pi.  In other words, as pi is 3.141592653 …, the first line of the Piku contains three syllables, the second line contains one syllable, the third line contains four syllables … “  If using this formula for Pi-Ku, the total number of syllables is 39. Other sources – use only the first 3 lines … 3 syllables for the first line, 1 syllable for the second line and 4 syllables for the third.
