Gentle Souls – A Hay(na)ku
Butterflies
Gentle Souls
In endless flight
This is in Hay(na)ku form.
“Hay(na)ku is a 3-line poem with one word in the first line, two words in the second, and three in the third.
Hay(na)ku is considered a modern poetry genre, first presented in June 2003. According to J Zimmerman, in a traditional Hay(na)ku, there are:
A tercet: 3 lines.
A total of 6 words: 1 in the first line, 2 in the second line, and 3 in the third line.
There is no restriction on syllables or stressed or rhymes.
Variations:
In the ‘reverse’ haynaku, the longest line is placed first and the shortest last. The total is still 6 words: 3 in the first line, 2 in the second line, and 1 in the third line.
Multiple hay(na)ku can be chained to form a longer poem.”

Think I Am Weird?
When looking at me
think I am weird?
Believe that I’m someone
that should be feared?
When all my scars
and stitches you see
What is it you
truly think of me?
What in my life
have I ever done
That I’m not allowed
being around your son?
Can’t you love me
for who I am?
Take your preconceptions and
all them just cram!
I’m a human being
with problems my own
Thought the love of God
was always to be shown!!

For you Aaliyah, always be yourself
’cause I love you just as you are!!
My Flesh and Blood
Oh you darling little baby
flesh and blood of mine
How very much do I
love your innocence divine
I promise that I will
always protect and cherish you
And give you my love
for your whole life through
I promise I will never
at you yell and scream
Because my darling little child
you are my fondest dream
And I will not ever
in life your innocence use
To manipulate or control you
or raise a hand to abuse
When you’re all grown up
there’ll come a wedding day
As you hold my arm
before I give you away
I’ll tell you once again
that precious you’ll always be
He better feel the same
or be answering to me!

Short Story Slam Week 12 Submission #2

A Father’s Love
Nothing in the world
like a father’s love
And nothing better than
our Father up above
They both love us
deeply as the other
In life we’re all
a sister or brother
And their little babies
the Fathers do protect
They are deserving of
our gratitude and respect
For if they scold
it’s because They should
Only to be done
for our own good
And a Father’s love
runs so very deep
It is something that
you will forever keep!

Poetry Is My Way
Poetry is my way
my feelings to say
Work hard every day
try not to dismay
And come what may
I hope and pray
Before I go away
this message I’ll convey
The Truth, Life and Way
gave all I have today
The words that I say
are to His glory display!

Siren Of The Sea
I am the siren
of all the sea
Standing on the rocks
you will find me
I beckon the sailors
as they sail by
With a haunting song
unto them I cry
“Look my brave men
see me on the shore,”
“Come in to me!”
to them do I implore
“I offer you pleasure
if you just come in,”
“Gaze upon my beauty
my love you may win”
And with my allure
to them do I insist
For the burning desire
they just can not resist
As they sail in
I give them a smile
For upon my rocks
their ship becomes a pile
Broken wood and dreams
as I gulp them all down
Because of sinful lust
in my sea they drown.
