The New Pledge of Allegiance

From an e-mial I received:

BY A 15 yr. OLD SCHOOL KID
who got an A+ for this entry
(TOTALLY AWESOME)!
Since the Pledge of Allegiance
And
The Lord’s Prayer
Are not allowed in most
Public schools anymore
Because the word ‘God‘ is mentioned…..
A kid in Arizona wrote the attached
NEW School prayer:

“New Pledge of Allegiance”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.
If scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.
And anytime my head I bow
Becomes a Federal matter now.
Our hair can be purple, orange or green,
That’s no offense; it’s a freedom scene..
The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.
For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at all..
In silence alone we must meditate,
God’s name is prohibited by the state.
We’re allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks…
They’ve outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.
We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
And the ‘unwed daddy,’ our Senior King.
It’s ‘inappropriate’ to teach right from wrong,
We’re taught that such ‘judgments’ do not belong..
We can get our condoms and birth controls,
Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles
..
But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No word of God must reach this crowd.
It’s scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns the school’s a mess.
So, Lord, this silent plea I make:
Should I be shot; My soul please take!
Amen
If you aren’t ashamed to do this,  Please pass this on..
Jesus said,  ‘If you are ashamed of me,  I will be ashamed of you before my Father.’
~~~~~~~~~~~AWESOME~~~~~~~~~~

Not ashamed. Pass this on.

Always remember that Jesus died for us because He loves us!

Unashamedly,
Teresa Marie

  1. This doesn’t smell like it was written by a child, but suppose it was. It’s quite brilliant, and sad this child has managed to absorb so many social conservative lies about public school, and so very much meanness in fifteen short years. This “child” needs to attend, or at least visit, a few public schools. One is that order is maintained, and the scary bad conduct you talk about as a boogey-man is bogus. The other is that there’s plenty of prayer and God-talk. In city schools where there are (horrors!) kids of other religions, their religions are respected too. I don’t object to this being mean, bigoted, crazy, and stupid; it’s the phoniness that really bothers me. Crawl out of your shell and check out the rest of the world. It’s not such a bad place.

    1. Harley, First of all; I take offense to the implication that this was not written by a 15 year old but perhaps by me. Did you not see the name of my blog “What About God?” Do you think that I, who would name my blog that, would lie or deceive people on it? I am not so foolhardy. Second; What makes you think that this person who wrote this, being a teenager, does not have a mind of their own and cannot form their own opinions. My teenager, whom I would dare you to call prejudice, thought it was quite good. Third; Maybe you should climb up from the hole of bigotry that you have put yourself in. Obviously you have a chip on your shoulder. And finally, I don’t know what world you are living in but the one that I see is on it’s way to destruction. Therefore, since this is my blog and I am entitled to write my opinion on it, don’t read it next time. May God forgive your pettiness and perhaps mine, Teresa
