Being a mother is not an easy job! To be a good mother is an even harder one. There must be a special grace from God that is granted to mothers. We all make our mistakes along the way. I know that I have made mine plenty.
The best we can do is hope and pray as we go along. I try my hardest to be there for my children. With my health problems, I don’t babysit a lot, especially in the winter when the germs are flying around. I have become somewhat of a germ phobic. That is not just out of being obsessive/compulsive but rather necessity. I am alway available for advice, emotional support, a shoulder to cry on, a sounding board for ideas or just someone to rant to when they need to blow off some steam.
My grandchildren love to come to grandma and papaw’s house to spend the night and are looking forward to the summertime when they are able to do it. They love doing the active things with Mark and I’m there for the other stuff like coloring, beading bracelets and necklaces, playing with clay, watching movies and of course the treats. Grandma gives bears hugs that shake you and smooches that tickle.
I love all of my children and grandchildren! My kids and I have gone through a lot and come out on the other side with a better relationship than I would have thought possible when I first escaped from my life of abuse. God has blessed me greatly! I have confessed my sins and failures in that arena and been forgiven by Him and them, thank You Lord!!
So for all you mothers out there: We are not perfect, we fail at times, we make dumb mistakes but if we are faithful to let our children know how much we love them and how we are sorry for those things, then we are the best mother that we can be.
Somewhere in Scripture it say, “Lead up a child and the way he should go and when he is old he shall not depart from it.” I think that’s how it goes. Well my parents gave me a firm spiritual foundation and I have tried to instill that in my children, more so even now that they are older. If we love our children and lead them to God, we truly are the heart of the family!
Always remember that Jesus died for us because He loves us!
Happy Mother’s Day,
Teresa Marie
