A Good Candidate Is Hard to Find – NY Times Headline

A good candidate
is hard to find

By New York Times
was today headlined

Which has been found
by me as true

Who’s saying America,
God bless you?

Everyone that reads me
knows just I feel

How God from the Country
 some are trying to steal

And although there’s many
who do not agree

This blog right here
belongs only to me

So you will find
it’s my point of view

Dictating what I say
and think or do

And though there are none
in the debates I see

That have all that much
made an impression on me

The votes that are counted
with the coming election day

Will choose the right one
is what I hope and pray!

In A Tree

You ever wished that you could be
living way up there in a tree?

To just reach out and touch the sky
as the clouds go rolling by?

Bathe in colors of a rainbow
dancing through as they ebb and flow?

Awe in an eagle’s majesty
with grandeur of true royalty

Witness to the glorious sight
of magnificence taking flight?

To be a part of each new dawn
imagination it goes beyond

Oh how I wish that I could be
living way up there in a tree!

Poetry Picnic Week 22: Spring, Colors, Trees, and New Lives

You Give Us

Oh Mother of Earth
on you we rely

Who cares for us
though you we try

When you break down
in rage we cry

Yet because of us
you live or die

Each year in Spring
is new life born

And with vibrant colors
the earth you adorn

When new green foliage
by trees are worn

 It’s not the Winter
for which we mourn

Oh Mother, oh Mother
of Earth in all

The Winter, the Spring
the Summer and Fall

You care for us
both great and small

The return be done
by us one and all!

Fairytale Wishes

Cotton candy and fairytale wishes

Dreams of learning to fly

Popcorn and ice cream dishes

As clouds go floating by

Dancing fairies and butterflies

In little girls’ imaginations

All the fantasies they devise

Have no need of explanations

Pixies, imps and elves

Are born for kids to see

From books taken off shelves

Coming to life in their fantasy

When my mother would say

What us kids should do

Was just go on and play

My books I would run to

And read of  maidens defenseless

That into the imagination tapped

As the poor waiting princess

Was alone in a tower trapped

Yes magical worlds and fairy tales

To each and every child gives

A place where nothing ever stales

and the wildest fantasy lives!

The Longing

How I long for you
in the quiet of night

For you strong arms to
hold me ever so tight

In my longing I do
ache for just the sight

Of you coming home to
me with the morning light

And the aching overwhelms me
as the time goes by

Your face to really see
not just in mind’s eye

All I want to be
what is my heart’s cry

Is to love you endlessly
until the day I die!

For my hardworking husband, Mark.  I love you!

Poetry Picnic Week 9 : Longing, Loss, Loosing and Failure

It’s In The Silence

It’s in the silence
your eyes have said

Over a thousand words
from when we wed

No need for talking
when we are alone

Deep love for me
your face has shown

This is true friendship
that’s grounded and sincere

There’s no waiting for
any words to hear

The language of love
is spoken in silence

A friend reads volumes
contained in a glance

And I know Darling
you’re my loving friend

Who’ll be with me
until the very end!

Sees The First Tear

A good friend’s who
sees the first tear

And to their heart
you’re the most dear

They catch the second
falling from your eye

For on their compassion
you always can rely

While the third tear
they do then stop

That you don’t cry
even one more drop

My darling you’re who
does this for me

You’re the best friend
that anyone could be

And for this alone
I’d forever love you

But there’s so much more
than just this you do!
