Tuesday’s Thought From Max Lucado

An Eye For An Eye

“An eye for an eye”
is not what Jesus said
“We don’t care” they cry,
“we just want them dead!”

But does that not make
the whole world as blind
if another’s life we take
when we act in kind?

And what about if we
take the path that’s wrong
would we then not be
whistling the very same song?

If we make a mistake
and condemn an innocent man
then do we not forsake
what God for them did plan?

Therein the dilemma does lie
when we do judge another
and sentence someone to die
who is our spiritual brother

My point don’t you see?
Just think it over again
for whose would truly be
the greater of the sin?

Revenge is the raging fire that consumes the arsonist. Max Lucado

Revenge is the raging fire
that the arsonist sets
fueled with anger’s desire
but him it also gets

As it quickly consumes
everything in its wake
and his life it dooms
when God he does forsake

‘Vengeance is Mine”, He said
we must leave it alone
get it through our head
what God does not condone

There is evil that lies behind
the need to hurt another
when it’s in heaven we find
they were our sister or brother

Strive always to walk in love
even when you don’t want to
take the hand of God above
He’ll help you make it through!
