The Devil’s Whore? – This Week’s Picture It & Write

By brookeshaden

From the sour scowl my mother wore, I knew she detested them. I wasn’t certain what the children were doing in the woods so late at night. The softest buzz of chanting could be heard. The faint scent of smoke and ash lingered. Was my mother right? Were they playing with the devil himself? “Witches! Whores!”My mother spat. I continued to peer outside my window, staring out into the black forest. “Stop staring! Is that what you want to become, Madeline? The devil’s whore?” I shook my head sternly. My mother stormed off, muttering prayers. A black smear was moving in the distance. I could see someone running. A blur of red, a dab of yellow. It was a girl. My fingertips touched the cool glass. What was she running from? Or, who was she running to?

The Witches War

Once there were two witches
one good and other bad

That on one fine day
a war of magic had

For the wicked one said
to the one of good

“You won’t beat me
and you never could”

The white witch replied
“Good always triumphs evil

Save us both the time
and yourself the upheaval”

So that’s the way it was
as back and forth they went

Until every bit of magic
both of them had almost spent

When the good witch said
“I will now defeat you”

The wicked one sneered back
“Yeah, when pigs fly too!”

The good witch replied smiling
“I can arrange for that”

As over a pig flew
knocking off the wicked’s hat

“Good always triumphs evil
just exactly as I said”

While the pig broke into singing
“Ding-dong the witch is dead!”

The Witches Of Halloween

All the witches
will for Halloween

Fly the earth
an unsightly seen

Giving out a
wicked laughter peel

The peace of
innocents to steal

How they wish
children to scare

As they fill
up the air

Don’t allow them
your children take

Keep them safe
for heaven’s sake!
